  • Overview

    Wellington is building its legal team. The Assistant General Counsel is an individual who will provide effective legal advice and related business counsel on routine to moderately complex matters. This individual will be asked to support corporate strategic and tactical legal initiatives. This individual is expected to grow with the company, thereby resulting in increased responsibilities and opportunities.


    Duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Provide legal support and counsel to business units related to contract drafting and negotiation and regulatory matters affecting the company.
    • Draft clear, concise, professional communications to internal and external parties and regulators.
    • Oversee communications with state insurance departments related to complaints and policy filings.
    • Assist with the development of company policies, procedures, and training.
    • Prepare and review policy forms and related filings.
    • Conduct legal research and support the Office of General Counsel in providing legal services.
    • Step into leadership roles and assume responsibility as the needs arise.


    Qualifications/Skills Desired:

    • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and membership in Law Review.
    • 1-5 years of applicable private firm and/or in-house experience.
    • Exceptional written communication skills.
    • Diligent, precise, and extremely attentive to detail.

    • Communication- strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt to different personalities.
    • Work ethic- demonstrates good attitude and judgment, discretion, and maintains high level of confidentiality.
