Overview

The Associate or Assistant General Counsel (depending on experience) is an individual who will provide effective advice and related business counsel on moderately complex regulatory matters affecting the business. In addition to managing the regulatory function for the Office of General Counsel, this individual will be asked to support corporate strategic and tactical legal initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support and counsel on regulatory matters impacting the company.
  • Draft clear, concise, professional communications to internal and external parties and regulators.
  • Oversee communications with state insurance departments related to complaints and policy filings.
  • Assist with the development of company policies, procedures, and training.
  • Prepare and review policy forms and related filings.
  • Conduct legal research and support the Office of General Counsel in providing legal services.
  • Step into leadership roles and assume responsibility as the needs arise.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • 4-5 years of applicable private firm and/or in-house experience.
  • Texas insurance regulatory experience required; multi-state insurance regulatory experience preferred.
