Overview

Wellington Insurance Group is looking to add an experienced Liability Adjuster to our Claims Department. Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for investigation, coverage analysis, determining liability, establishing damages, reporting status and negotiating settlement of assigned cases within prescribed authority limits.
  • Ability to adjust all types of claims.
  • Inspect damaged property and determine claims related damage.
  • Estimate the cost of repair or replacement of damaged or stolen property.
  • Determine and report on subrogation potential. Address any potential fraud on the scene.
  • Initiate the sale of salvage, personal property, and miscellaneous salvage items.
  • Report theft, fraud, and arson losses as required to state and industry agencies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, repair facilities, contractors, law enforcement, state and county fraud and arson personnel, special investigators, attorneys, and any other party related to the investigation and processing of a claim.
  • Maintain contact with initial witnesses and parties to provide information on liability, claim value, explanation of benefits, and coordination of claims resolution.
  • Develop appropriate methods of repair/replacement, verify ownership, and apply any special limitations post-evaluations.
  • May develop and/or train other claim employees in the area of expertise.
  • Perform other duties as instructed or required to complete the job successfully, including special projects and/or work-load surges due to weather-related events that may require hours beyond core business hours.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum four years Liability claim handling experience. Property claim handling experience beneficial.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Texas Adjusters license required.
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.
